Delisi Araceli is a former actress and model, but is better known for her title as Miss Latina World 2008-2009 and her love of charity work. As the oldest of three daughters, Delisi spent her childhood growing up in San Antonio, Texas. She lived in Los Angeles and New York for 5 years, only to return to Texas where she currently resides.
In 2002 (only one week after graduating high school), Delisi packed her bags and moved to Los Angeles, California. She stayed there for four years; two of which were spent attending the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts, and then graduating in 2004. After graduation, Delisi perfected her craft in Los Angeles by appearing on networks such as the Game Show Network, Disney Channel, Telemundo and Univision. Meanwhile she continued her modeling career and in 2005, became one of the first clothing line models for Jennifer Lopez and hip hop artist Eve Jeffers.
Then the opportunity arose to move to Manhattan, New York and she did just that. She joined a casting agency in the city and frequently auditioned, while again continuing with her modeling career. Having less success than in Los Angeles, she would spend her days on the set of Saturday Night Live with her actor friends on the show. While her career came to what seemed to be a standstill, Delisi re-evaluated her future and decided to move back to Texas and be with her family.
Moving back to Texas, Delisi was able to continue with her career. She appeared on Friday Night Lights, did some local work and can still be seen as one of the faces of the American Rice brand Adolphus Rice; appearing in ads throughout the south and southeast United States. However, it is her title of Miss Latina World 2008-2009 and the work she has done with that title that sets her apart. During her reign, Delisi frequently appeared at events, hosted fundraisers, actively participated in charity, worked with outreach programs, and spoke publicly to children about the importance of school, hard work and being good role models.
During this time, Delisi was also able to become a part of many charitable organizations. She is currently the youngest Chair of Guadalupe Home, which is a program of Catholic Charities, a transitional home that helps homeless mothers who are pregnant. Guadalupe Home continues to be a large part of Delisi’s life and she continues to work with this organization which in December 2011, will open up a new location thanks to Bob and Carmen Drury of Drury Hotels.
All the while Delisi is also a full time student at UTSA (University of Texas at San Antonio) and is currently in her senior year of obtaining her Bachelors Degree in Communication and maintains a 3.0 GPA. She also continues to work part time as a legal secretary at her father’s law firm. She is also a member of Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) at UTSA and helps with their organization as often as possible. While she insists her pageant days may be over, Delisi continues to assist young women by serving as a pageant trainer for the Miss Helotes pageant and judge whenever possible.
