As a former pageant queen, I can understand the nerves that occur when you have to strut on a stage in a bikini and heels. I trained with a personal trainer for months before I did it, so I get it. HOWEVER, I am not okay with seeing someones rib cage. Being healthy and toned is one thing, but when I can see her pelvic bone pertruding from her left thigh and her entire rib cage I just cringe. This woman is absolutely beautiful, she really is. But someone needs to tell her to look more healthy. This is not an image Miss USA 2011 should be for young girls. As attractive as this woman is I really hope someone tells her she is taking her work outs and eating habits too far and this is not healthy.

For over a week now, this story has been the talk of the town and more recently one of the nation. As a titleholder, I can understand the pain Domonique must be going through and the frustrations she has with the Miss San Antonio pageant. However, as the daughter of a lawyer and working in the legal environment, I also know there are two sides to every story.

Right now everything is just speculation, but I will say this. I am proud of Domonique for standing up for herself, but not the way she handled this in the media. Issues like this are won in a courtroom and not in front of the media. The press conference in my eyes was unnecessary, drew negative attention, and gave me the wrong impression of her intentions.

I wish her the best in her court battle, but I really hope that she has a strong support group behind her. The negative comments that will come along with this may be painful, especially to a young woman. It will be interesting to see how this story will end and how this will affect the Miss San Antonio pageant.

I’m fortunate enough to meet some wonderful people in life. Annette Rushing, the pageant director for the National United America pageant is one of those people. Last week I spoke to Annette about the possibility of being a celebrity judge for her national pageant in Austin, Texas. After a detailed conversation, being a part of her judges panel was an easy decision to make. I’m pleased to be a judge for the pageant in late October and look forward to meeting all of the amazing ladies competing.

Deadline to compete is September 25th, so if you know anyone interested in competing, please let them know there’s still time! Winners receive an AMAZING prize package and media will be present. (More details to come.)

On Sunday, October 25, 2009, I walked the stage as the reigning Miss Latina World 08-09 for the last time. This year I crowned a Teen, Miss and Ms that will represent the Miss Latina pageant for 2010.

The pageant was bittersweet in the fact that my reign is now over and someone else will hold my title. I am happy to pass on the title and eager to use what I have learned during my reign, in my personal life to excel even more.

Thank you to my family and friends who helped me during my reign; and thank you to the different organizations and charities I am blessed to have worked with.

This weekend I had a fan send me an article, which was wrote last month, and featured me in it. While I am appreciative of the feature, regarding the article itself, I feel most title holders don’t receive too much press. The Miss America and Miss Universe pageant are the most recognizable. Any pageant other than those two, never receives the same amount of press that they do. When I am in the press now, it’s because of the good I do and staying active in my community. Thank you Asylum for the feature, and complimenting my looks, but for the record … YES I AM WISE TOO!

This Sunday, June 14th I’ll be a judge at the Ms. and Mrs. Texas State pageant. Not too long ago, I was the host for the San Antonio pageant and now for the state pageant I decided to switch things up and judge. It will be exciting for me to actually be a judge; and not the one on stage with a microphone, or competing!
